SFI Ltd  collaborating with SGM Waste Management for sustainable on-site waste management solutions

In a world increasingly focused on sustainability and environmental responsibility, SFI Ltd is proud to announce its collaboration with SGM Waste Management for our Projects Division’s on-site waste clearance initiatives. This partnership embodies our commitment to implementing environmentally sustainable practices and aligns perfectly with SGM’s ambitious goal of achieving 0% waste to landfill by 2025.

A Shared Vision for Sustainability

At SFI Ltd, we understand the importance of responsible waste management in construction and project delivery. We recognise that our operations significantly impact the environment. Therefore, we are committed to reducing our ecological footprint and ensuring that our projects contribute positively to the communities we serve.
SGM Waste Management shares this vision, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to environmentally sustainable waste solutions. Their innovative approaches and dedication to diverting waste from landfills make them the ideal partner for our on-site waste clearance projects. Together, we are not only addressing waste management challenges but also paving the way for a greener future. They aim to do this by implementing the following:

  • ALL timber batons and pallets are 100% recycled. These are used to make recycled environmentally friendly briquettes for household log burners. This process effectively reduces the number of trees required to be cut down for the average household log burner in the UK.
  • Any metals, such as nails and screws etc that are recovered are melted down to produce new nails and screws.
  • Glass waste is stockpiled and sent to a specialist glass recycler. Glass is 100% recycled into new fibreglass insulation.
  • ALL hardcore and soil is screened/crushed and reintroduced into construction industry supply chains.
  • ALL plasterboard and gypsum are 100% ethically recycled using a process which ensures all material is reused an infinite number of times as new drywall products.
  • ALL cement partitioning boards will be cleaned and re-purposed, where possible. Where repurposing is not possible. It will be 100% recycled, essentially as a concrete slurry.
  • For every commercial contract they secure they plant a tree to offset their retrospective carbon footprint.
  • ALL their fleet is run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. HVO is 100% recycled.

The Importance of On-Site Waste Clearance

Effective on-site waste clearance is essential for maintaining safety and efficiency during construction projects. By collaborating with SGM Waste Management, SFI Ltd is ensuring that waste is managed responsibly from the outset. SGM’s expertise in sorting, recycling, and reusing materials allows us to maximise resource recovery and minimise waste generation.
Through this partnership, we will utilise SGM’s comprehensive waste management strategies tailored to the specific needs of each project. Our aim is to promote a culture of sustainability that resonates throughout our organisation and beyond.

Commitment to 0% to Landfill by 2025

One of the most compelling aspects of our partnership with SGM Waste Management is their ambitious commitment to achieving 0% waste to landfill by 2025. This goal resonates with our values at SFI Ltd and reinforces our determination to be at the forefront of sustainable construction practices.
By leveraging SGM’s advanced waste processing techniques, we are confident that we can significantly reduce the amount of waste generated by our projects. Their state-of-the-art methods ensure that materials are recycled or repurposed whenever possible, transforming potential waste into valuable resources.
